EVERY CHILD MATTERS
Extended Services are at the heart of the Every Child Matters agenda, raising standards and with an aim to ensure that children are:-
Healthy
Stay Safe
Enjoy and Achieve
Make a Positive Contribution
Achieve Economic Wellbeing
The Prudhoe Partnership’s vision is to bring together local communities, carers, voluntary and community groups with other agencies and key partners. By working collaboratively through a partnership approach, we can support and enhance the life chances of children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential.
The Prudhoe Partnership consists of 11 schools; seven first schools, one primary school, two middle schools and one high school. All of our headteachers have been proactive in embracing Extended Services into their schools and as a result of this we have achieved effective and authentic partnership working.
By Easter 2008, 91% of the schools in the Prudhoe Partnership have achieved Full Core Offer Status which is a significant achievement. Signposting and effective coordination have contributed to this achievement and Schools are thoroughly supported and enabled through the work of the Extended Services Team.

Attendance and Attainment
Prudhoe Partnership Extended Services has looked at the effects of pupil absence from school and research shows that there is a direct link between attendance and attainment throughout First, Middle and High schools.
By the time a pupil moves up to High School, a 90% attendance rate affects a child’s chances of success by a drop of 1 grade at key stage 3/GCSE across all subjects. Therefore every day a child is absent from school impacts greatly on their education and the opportunities to enhance their future.
Following discussions between Prudhoe Partnership Extended Services and local businesses, a local travel agent has agreed to offer a discount of up to 10% off new bookings for family holidays, taken entirely within school holiday periods.
Each family within our 11 Partnership schools has received a flyer and voucher promoting the offer.
Parenting Support
Being a parent can be the hardest job in the world and we encourage parents to access the support which
is available.
Information sessions are offered at Key transfer stages and regularly throughout the school year. Parents have access to well established parenting groups, ‘Understanding Teenagers’ and ‘5 -9’ workshops but they can also contact our Parent Support Partner informally for advice and support at any time.
We aim to ensure that parents feel able to ask for support if they need it.
Multi-Agency Working
The Prudhoe Partnership has a long established tradition of multi-agency working and continues to promote authentic partnership working to support the Every Child Matters Agenda. We have close links with the local Youth Service, Health and our Community Police/Fire and Rescue and our students benefit from the many types of support they give in school. This can range from delivering workshops, regular drop-ins, health clinics and through doing group work and advice sessions.
Regular multi-agency meetings bring together professional representatives from many agencies, providing an opportunity for shared discussion and delivering a network of support and interventions for students.
As the future programme of Extended Services moves forward it is fortunate that we receive the willingness and commitment from agencies to work together to support young people and their families in the Prudhoe Partnership.
Family Learning
Through Extended Services we welcome parents and carers to take part in and enjoy a wide range of Family Learning events. These have included First Aid training, Food Hygiene, Rookie Golf, K’nex, Cookery, Clay working, Egyptian Dance and a variety of Arts and Crafts workshops.
Some events such as our successful Robot Building Days are aimed specifically at transition years allowing pupils and families the opportunity to meet with students from other schools and introduce them to the settings of their new school environment.
