The Haydon Bridge Extended Services Partnership aims to ensure that children and young people who live in the vast and very rural area served by the partnership are able to access services and opportunities locally.
The people, organisations, community groups, voluntary and statutory sector agencies, and the eighteen schools that make up our partnership work closely together to ensure that children and young people reach their full potential and are prepared for their future life and work. We value the trust placed in us by parents and we encourage them to take a full and active interest in their children and contribute to all aspects of their child’s life.
Children and young people learn, enjoy, and achieve through being involved in sports and arts activities. Our partnership is committed to providing a wide range of opportunities, both within our schools and the wider community...
Exhibitions, productions and performances enable children, young people, parents, and the community to share in the satisfaction of participation and achievement.
Children and young people have the opportunity to play competitive sport and participate in sports festivals in a wide range of activities for all ages.
Our partnership is committed to the principle of lifelong learning, working with Northumberland’s Adult Learning Service and the West Northumberland Youth Partnership, providing a wide range of extended learning and training opportunities for adults and young people.
The partnership strives to retain the area’s traditional values whilst looking for opportunities to adapt them to a changing world. We share a strong sense of community and acknowledge that there is strength in unity.

A weekend in February was celebrated in carnival style
Working to the theme of ‘Carnival’, children and young people from across the entire Haydon Bridge Extended Services Partnership enjoyed participating in multiple arts related activities culminating in a showcase event. It was a fantastic opportunity for participants to stretch their imagination and work intensively with specialists within the field of creative and expressive arts. The young people worked with professionals and experienced limbo dancing, samba drumming, circus skills, playing steel pan and producing life size paintings.
Quotations from the children and young people include:
‘Do I have to go home?’, ‘The food was brilliant’, ‘Wow! I didn’t think I could do that’, ‘When can I come back?’
Parental Support
Janet Nicholson, our Parent Support Partner for the Haydon Bridge Partnership, can help to support parents and carers, providing information support and guidance. Parent Workshops are available throughout the partnership and provide valuable support for the “hardest job in the world”.
One to One support is also available to parents to enable their children and young people achieve their full potential.
Families have enjoyed a range of activities which has been delivered thoughout the partnership. They include arts and craft, healthy eating, kickboxing, Robot Wars and cooking on a budget. We have provided First Aid Training to parents whereby they gain a qualification, which has been extremely popular. Many more events are planned for the forthcoming year.
Family fun day at Allendale
A family fun day held at Allendale Middle School was a tremendous success. 16 teams of parents and young people worked together to build a robot and take part in various events.
The event attracted the attention of the whole village as passers by wanted to see what was going on. Word soon spread that Robot Wars was in Allendale and the event attracted over 100 spectators. Community spirit is alive and kicking in Allendale. The follow up activity was kickboxing!
