The Cramlington Extended Services Partnership  is consulting widely to build and support a learning community for the 21st century.

We will continue to work with the local community and other partners to develop an exciting range of opportunities for our young people and their families.

Extended Services is developing and we are working hard, with a growing team, to provide the opportunities and support our young people and their families.

Family Learning Workshops

We’ve found that our families really enjoy learning new skills together. As a result we have run events for families throughout the year, in all schools in Cramlington, many of them in conjunction with Northumberland County Council’s Family Learning and some throughout holidays.

Family Learning Signature

Every family in the Junior Learning Village will be invited in to take part in the Family Learning Signature.

At the workshops families will be invited to discuss a number of questions relating to learning within the family and then through the use of colours, create their own Family Learning Signature.

The Family Learning Signature is a tool that has been designed to help a family see where it has strengths, opportunities and challenges as a learning family.  The benefits are that it engages the family in a discussion about learning, it helps create a common focus on family strengths and weaknesses and it provides a robust picture of family learning conditions.

The Big Family Read

This project, joint  funded by Northumberland County Council’s, Family Learning and Cramlington Extended Services was aimed at keeping the profile of reading high. Parents and children from Year 5 and 6 in Primaries were invited to a launch at Cramlington Learning Village on the 1st July to pick up their book bags and find out how they could become a reading family.

This was followed up with an exciting reading event on the 1st August with books, activities, authors and storytellers. Children taking part have been invited to let us know about their reading over the summer and will be invited to a special event in September to celebrate their achievements.
